Technology and information are a set of interconnected entities, especially in today’s era, namely the information age. Various phenomena have sprung up with various developments and the impact of the development of information technology. It cannot be denied that one of the inevitable implications is the emergence of an information revolution which then gives birth to a society in which the production, distribution and manipulation of information are the main activities or better known as the information society.
The library as a center for information sources has various demands in line with the development of the information society. On the other hand, librarian as an information agent in it as the key holder can the library handle these various demands. One of the concrete manifestations is to try to build a mindset and paradigm of information management without neglecting technological developments, namely by implementing technologies in the library both for ease of user access and ease in the management process.
It should be noted another aspect that the librarian here is not only a manager of technological elements, data and so on. However, far from that, this era of information society, librarians have a moral duty as information agents in which librarians have the responsibility of how they can print these generations of the information age by having a competency in the form of information literacy. With the spirit of 45 72 years of Indonesian independence, let us as information agent librarians begin to open the set and mindset that we are not only fixated on technical processes in the world of librarianship, far from that, let’s start together to improve the competence of the next generation to become a generation. information literate people.
We can make this happen by providing information access skills training to users to sources that are relevant to their needs, designing methods both in the form of concepts or products intended for users as easy access to information, giving ideas in the form of being diligent in making written works. , research and so on for the sake of scientific librarian development, especially those related to information literacy and so on. If all of that can be realized, it is not impossible that the future generations in the future will be more advanced and will automatically have an impact on the progress of the Indonesian state where they have creative ideas and are always innovative with their information literacy competencies.
