The spearhead of running a library is seen from its services. This is because the success or failure of organizing a library can be seen how the quality of service provided to users, whether users are satisfied or vice versa. In its implementation, Polinema Library is a step in order to create a good service and can satisfy users, one of which is organizing collection cleaning and maintenance activities. With a clean and well-maintained collection, it is hoped that later users will continue to use the collection.

Cleaning and collection maintenance activities are carried out in the general collection room, reference collection and final project as well as the first coffee collection room (reservoir collection). The focus of activities includes cleaning the shelves where the collection is held, collection books, followed by shelving the collections where they don’t fit. Given that there is a lot of dust found on books and in the collection shelves, this cleaning activity also uses a vacuum cleaner, mainly in general book collections and in final projects. This is because the intensity of utilization of the two collections is quite high when compared to other collections.

The activity lasted for more than 1 week starting from August 22-30 2016. The implementation of the activity was mutual assistance, both from the librarian and administrative staff of the Polinema Library Unit. This activity is expected to be carried out continuously and continuously considering the importance of cleanliness for the convenience of users in utilizing library collections. (Niz)
